An elegant pair of Victorian double-faced cufflinks, each face formed from a flattened cabochon of almandine garnet, centering an old mine diamond, the whole set in 21K yellow gold. Amandine garnets often have an unattractive brownish tone, but the style of cutting has retained the bright red coloring with slightly purplish overtones. The stones have excellent clarity, so the gold setting underneath shines through to increase the reflective quality. The diamonds have good color and clarity for the period, estimated at H and SI2/I1. The cufflinks have worn, illegible hallmarks on the back. Tested and guaranteed 21K.
