Towle Sterling Silver and Lenox Porcelain Candle Stick Pair

This Towle sterling silver pair of candle sticks was designed in 1955, the top portion is made of Lenox porcelain and the base is made in teak wood. This line was part of the Contempra House division developed by Towle and Lenox. These have futuristic, moderne air to their design with the flair to the top of each candle stick being echoed by the teak wood base. There is the band of sterling silver between the Lenox and the teak.

There is no decorative jade green enamel on the candle sticks that is associated with this design. Designer Earl B. Pardon designed some flatware for Contempra House with the same jade green tips. The candle sticks stand approximately eight and one quarter inches tall. The “stick” portion does separate from the wooden base portion.

The sterling band is marked “Towle Sterling 463”. The porcelain and teak wood bases are not marked.
