Silver Cocktail Shaker with Black and Red Enamel

This is a 835/1000 silver German cocktail shaker with an Art Deco design influence. The shaker comes apart into three pieces, the cup, the strainer and the cap. The cap is enameled with black and red stripes or bands. This shaker was made in Germany by Wilhelm Binder.

The shaker stands approximately eight and one half inches tall. The are no monograms or other engravings. The lid or top or cap with the enamel is marked with the 835 silver standard and the number “19” which probably refers to it’s parts number. The middle strainer section is also marked with the 835 silver standard mark and it is marked twice with the number “19” parts number. The bottom cup section is marked with the 835 silver standard mark, the German silver mark-a crescent moon and a crown, the patrs number “19”, the number “73330” and the “WTB” maker’s mark for Wilhelm Binder. (See photo below)

The cap in addition to the enamel also has a band of ribbing in the silver around the top, possibly for decoration, but more likely to give the user some added “grip” for separating the snug, well fitting pieces. Thus making the use of the cocktail shaker much easier.
